Driving license of the category

A2

Category A2 driving license

Access to driving two-wheelers, motorbikes and scooters has been completely reformed since January 19, 2013, from 50 cm³ to large displacement. New intermediate category (A2) for less than 47.5 hp and access to large displacement, now reserved for older or better trained bikers thanks to post license training. A new possibility is offered to pass all the licenses on an automatic vehicle, in particular maxi-scooters.

Progressive access to engine capacity with post-license training

One of the main principles of this reform is to lower the age of direct access to large displacement (category A), by now imposing a minimum of 24 years for inexperienced bikers. It allows access to category A after two years of experience acquired with the A2 license (less than 47.5 hp) and post-license training of 7 hours. On paper, category A is therefore also and above all accessible from the age of 20, but after two years of experience and returning to motorcycle school for a day, real experience has therefore been largely privileged.

7h A2 to A training

If you have had the A2 license for more than 2 years, a 7-hour training course is mandatory to allow you to access the A license and drive a motorcycle with a power greater than 35 kW! The 7h training from A2 license to A license allows holders of the A2 driving license for at least two years to obtain the A license (The training can be followed within three months before the anniversary date of the two years of obtaining category A2 driving license). This training is part of a "post license" approach and has the following objectives: - To bring to the understanding of essential and / or specific theoretical contributions, to the safe practice of driving a motorcycle with a greater than 35 kW; - To understand the usefulness of mastering simple know-how and techniques that are essential for the safe practice of driving a motorcycle with a power greater than 35 kW; - To work, in particular on the detection-analysis-decision and action process, as part of a conduct audit.
